Debra Munsell, DHSc, PA-C, DFAAPA
Dr. Debra Munsell is a seasoned PA and academic leader with more than forty years of experience spanning clinical practice, education, and program development. She currently serves as full-time faculty in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Program at the University of Lynchburg, where she mentors doctoral candidates and contributes to curriculum development in lifestyle medicine and leadership in clinical practice.
Her clinical background includes work in rural medicine, high-risk women’s health, correctional medicine, and surgical oncology. Prior to transitioning into academia, Dr. Munsell proudly served in the Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She later became the founding director of two successful physician assistant programs, reflecting her dedication to advancing PA education and clinical training.
Dr. Munsell is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Associates (DFAAPA) Her scholarly interests include lifestyle medicine, oral health, curriculum innovation, and the evolving leadership roles of physician associates in modern healthcare systems.
