Wesley G. Patterson, PhD, MSPA, PA-C, CAQ-Peds
Wesley Patterson is a genetics PA at the Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenwood, South Carolina and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine–Columbia. He is passionate about medical genetics. He is involved in the evaluation and treatment of genetic disorders in individuals of all ages, with a special interest in seeing patients with developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and connective tissue disorders.
Dr. Patterson is a 2014 graduate of the Radford University PA Program (formerly Jefferson College of Health Sciences). He holds a PhD in Healthcare Genetics from Clemson University and a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pediatrics. Building on his dissertation work, he also has a special research interest in genetics and genomics education for healthcare providers, as well as clinic workflows.
Dr. Patterson serves as ADPA’s Chief Communications Officer (CCO). As CCO, he is responsible for supervising continuing medical education (CME) initiatives, including conferences and enduring activities. Previously, he served as President of ADPA (2023-2025), where he was instrumental in initiating the inaugural ADPA Conference in 2024 and the transitioning of ADPA from an AAPA Special Interest Group to a Caucus in 2025. He also served as the ADPA Chief Delegate at the AAPA House of Delegates.
Outside of ADPA, Dr. Patterson is a founding member of the Clinical Genetics Advanced Practice Providers, for which he serves as Chief Medical Officer, and the Society of PAs in Genetics and Genomics, for which he serves as treasurer and webmaster. He serves as the American Academy of PAs External Representative in Genetics and Genomics. He also holds memberships in the American Academy of PAs, American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, PA Education Association, and Society for PAs in Pediatrics.
